This Tuesday Google launched its very own wi-fi router called OnHub. The software they used here developed in canada and this is google's first step into the networking market.
Google thinks today's router are not flexiblefor user and not easy to use. Thus they felt the importance to create a device which make the wi-fi secure, easy to use and can be embed anywhere.
Google OnHub product manager Trond Wuellner said:
"Imagine the living room of the future,The connected home, where technology makes it easy to do all the things you want to do. For the connected home to be a reality, you really need Wi-Fi to work extremely well."
Google researchers found that now a days people hide their routers, they usually keep their router behind the tv which may cause signal problem or they may pile modems. Which cause signal problems too, that's why Wuellner said, "they're ugly".
Hence Google decided to build a router which is more attractive and can easily set up on a book shelf. Wuellner said,
The OnHub is a cylinder-shaped device that resembles a high-end speaker and will sit nicely in a bookcase where it is in the best position to provide a good signal to devices.
Another exciting feature is Google On app puts you in charge of the router. With this android app you can easily control the router from anywhere. It helps you to check the network, as well as you can keep track of your network
Initially google partnered with TP-LINK for the hardware.
This router will be available on Aug. 31 in Canada, from Best Buy and the Google Store. And price approximately USD$199.99
