A few days ago, CyanogenMod updated their download website with official nightly build of CM12.1 for Xiaomi Mi3 and Mi4. The update was on top of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
You may have a Xiaomi phone and it has a tremendous configuration. However, that doesn't mean you will like the user interface too. Xiaomi's stock UI is way different than stock android. Which makes you feel the cartoonish user interface on this heavyweight phone.
Thus, CyanogenMod Nightly, is the best choice for you. As we already know Cyanogen OS spread's better user experience than anyone. If you want to install the OS just make sure you have all the backups and proper research. Because custom OS will void the phone warranty and if anything goes wrong you will be the sole responsible. Yes, it sounds harsh, but there is no other option.
You can download the ROM from CyanogenMOD , you will find a download option labeled as "Cancro". They named it Cancro for both both as Mi3 or Mi4 has no big difference.
